Sacred Sundays – POSTPONED UNTIL A LATER DATE
March 29 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDTFree
The last Sunday of every month we build a community of spiritual seekers called a sangha. All are welcome to participate in creating this non-denominational collective. No experience necessary, the only requirement is a devotion to serving your highest purpose with an open heart.
What is a sangha :
If you aren’t familiar with the term sangha, it means a community of practitioners devoted to mindfulness and mindful living.
Together we intentionally step out of the material world which seems to be rushing by in a torrent of stress and misplaced priorities in order to create a sacred space where we can seek refuge, be still and rejuvenate our hearts.
Engaging on a regular basis, with a group of kindred spirits devoted to what is most beautiful, truthful, and good strengthens us both as individuals and as a community. Through our devotion, we cultivate the strength and courage to walk through this world with clarity of mind, an open heart, and the light of compassion.
Alone we can feel isolated and vulnerable, but together we can carry each other along. We alone cannot travel to the ocean as a drop of water—we would evaporate before reaching our destination. But as a collection of individual drops flowing together, we become a river that is sure to return to the ocean.
What to Expect:
– Opening with gathering and greeting
– A centering meditation*
– A reading to guide us into sharing of the day
– Sharing space, the purpose of verbally sharing is to discover where you are at in the moment and to support and witness by the sangha. If you find that you are wandering around in the dark, the energetic support and love of the community is there to serve as a guiding light and a reminder that you are devoted to working your way back to the light of truth, peace and joy.
– A closing meditation and a few breaths to seal our time together
An additional note regarding the event: We recognize that wisdom, insight, and compassion are enhanced by our appreciation of the diversity of humans. We aim for inclusivity and unity through the cultivation of such understanding and appreciation. Our shared understanding of diversity is inclusive of, but not limited to, racial equality, ethnicity, religious belief, sexual orientation, gender, disability, socioeconomic status, national origin, immigration status and age. Diversity in our sangha is essential to our practice and our moral duty to overcome discrimination in all forms.
Gatherings will be led by Katherine Fotaides and/or Rachael McCaskill
